The Parks & Recreation Department is working
with East Providence Heritage Days, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation to
coordinate the 28th Annual Heritage Festival at Pierce Stadium on July
18-20. The following is the board's recent news release:
East Providence Heritage Days, Inc. will sponsor
the 28th Annual Heritage Festival on July 18-20 at Pierce Stadium.
Loverboy, one of
America
’s and MTV’s most popular classic rock bands, will headline this year’s
festival. Loverboy was inducted into
the
Western
Canadian
Music Hall
of Fame in 2005 and is the recipient of eight Juno Awards (Grammy).
They have garnered four multi-Platinum albums and numerous international
Gold albums. The
band's hit singles, particularly "Turn
Me Loose" and "Working for the Weekend" have become arena
rock staples, and are still heard on many classic
rock radio
stations across the United
States and Canada.
They are currently based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
Their newest CD “Just Getting Started” was recently released in the
United States
. Other artists include The Best of
the British Invasions, one of the most powerful classic rock/pop experiences
from
Montreal
which features over 20 costume changes and recreates some of the greatest
moments in musical history. New York
based Evolution, a Journey tribute band whose lead singer Hugo Valenti was
considered to replace Steve Perry, and from California, Heartbreaker, the
nation’s best Led Zeppelin tribute as well as local favorites, Band of
Brothers, Lydia Perez & Yoruba II and Tropical Gems with Jason Roseman are
also scheduled to perform.Heritage Festival ’08 will benefit The
Women’s

EP PARK
& REC. TO HOLD DANCE RECITAL
The
East Providence
dept. of Parks & Recreation will hold a dance recital on:
Thurs. April 24, 6pm at the Recreation center,
100 Bullocks Pt. Ave.
The
recital is the culmination of the department’s youth dance program featuring
performances by the pre-school and youth tap, ballet and hip hop classes.
This
event is free and open to the public. For
